I remember when I was younger and I was constantly dreaming of bags and making lists of which bags I would buy if I had all the money in the world. And even I barely had any money, I still spent enormous amounts to fulfill some of those cravings! Nowadays it’s definitely not the case anymore. I have my beloved Marimekko bag for everyday use and a bigger Céline one for the days I need my computer (or pilates clothes) with me. And lately I’ve actually left home very often with no bag at all, such a liberating feeling.

However the above bag from The Row’s SS2019 collection brought me back to my teenage years. I’m craving a bag that wouldn’t have any purpose in my life! And it’s very, very expensive. But it’s honestly the most beautiful bag I’ve seen, and from what I know, there aren’t that many of them in the world. Talk about luxury!

I’ve tried to build a spring moodboard for couple of weeks now, but I’ve felt so disconnected with my thoughts lately. In a good way I mean. I’ve constantly had new ideas for projects I want to start and things I want to create, into the extent that I wasn’t sure anymore where to focus on.

To get my mind together, I took a day off just to visit some of my favorite places in Paris; Galerie Patrick Seguin and the Picasso Museum (The Calder-Picasso -exhibition I wrote about earlier). Over the years I’ve understood the importance of aesthetically satisfying environment to my creativity. I can’t stand mess and clutter, and whenever I feel disconnected, I need to get myself to an environment that calms me.

The same goes for clothes. I might wear the same outfit for a week and I don’t mind. I like to dress up from time to time end get creative with my wardrobe, where I love every single piece I have, but I’m intrigued by the idea of not to start my mornings with a decision of what to wear. Only depending on the weather I might change from all black to all white. Or something in between.

On a side note, do you also think those The Row shoes are a definition of freedom?

I love this photo with my favorite dress from the Marni SS19 runway collection, that will soon hit the stores. Actually the whole Marni -editorial in the SSAW magazine was absolutely stunning and literally brings out the artistic point of view of the brand. There was also an interesting interview with Francesco Risso, where he discusses about his time at Marni so far, the collaborations he does with artists and his ideas for the future.

Marimekko SS2019

It’s not a surprise that Finnish fashion and -design have a very special place in my heart and especially living abroad they’ve became ways for me to communicate about where I come from.

Having a bit of homesickness lately, I was very happy to attend Marimekko’s SS2019 presentation in a gorgeous Musée d’Arts Decoratifs. The new designer Satu Maaranen focused in this collection on romantic dresses from the brand’s archives, making them look very up-to-date. The two looks above were my favorites and I can’t wait to try on the green printed maxi dress when it hits the stores.

Maybe it’s not fair from me to pick sides here, as I’m currently working for Marni, but the above is one of my favorite looks from MFW! The show was just art pieces after another. To describe the collection better, I must quote Sarah Mower; “It had the same feeling as when an artist instinctively knows when a painting is finished. The skill is in the decision to stop before tidying up and overthinking ruins it all.” I couldn’t agree more.

Trendspotting (if that can be said since NYFW is just repeating already ongoing trends..) nylon windbreaker fabrics in few shows. The material looks fresh in the more feminine silhouettes, such as in the long dress from Tibi.

NYFW is almost over and it has been very boring to be honest. I mostly waited for The Row, but they skipped the show and organized a presentation instead. However, the look book looks still great, especially the grey look above.

I hope Calvin Klein and Maryam Nassir Zadeh will serve some treats for the final days.
