Shirt and sandals from Céline by Phoebe Philo

This shirt dress is already on it’s way to the new owner but I wanted to share this outfit anyway. If I had to wear only one outfit for the rest of my life (I kind of do already) it would be something like this. I love matching shirt dresses with pants, and more than anything – flare pants with flat sandals.

Wearing sandals and coat from Céline by Phoebe Philo and trousers from Chanel spring 2009, all vintage

I’ve been sourcing vintage- and second hand coats since last year and slowly starting to be ready with the first selection, which will be available at Mies this fall. I wanted to have at least one Céline coat by Phoebe Philo to offer and after a long search I found this worker blue, light wool and cashmere mix coat. It’s so exquisite I almost want to keep it for myself. I would love to pair it also with classic jeans and navy sweater, there’s something intriguing in mixing different shades of blue.

Anyway, I chose this coat as it represents well Philo’s era at Céline, while also describing perfectly the style of Mies woman; silent, simple but powerful.

I have a bit mixed feelings about outlets, you can definitely find really good deals from them but on the same time, people tend to buy things that they don’t really need just because of the lower price tag.

However, recently I paid a quick visit to La Vallée Village, an outlet mall a bit outside of Paris, in the hope that they would still have Phoebe Philo’s designs at the Céline boutique. And I was right! As they operate 2-3 seasons behind, the store was filled with treasures from previous years and the interior was still untouched. They even had the accent on the top of the É and no Hedi in sight. Such a lovely trip to the past.

Wearing all Céline

I finally got my hands to the Céline SS2013 fur slippers. I was looking for the all black versions in my size for couple years until one day during my lunch break I spotted them at a vintage store window. Even though I love browsing Vestiaire Collective, good old vintage stores tend to have slightly lower prices, plus I hate to buy shoes without trying them on!

Both the shirt dress and sandals will be my uniform during the summer but I’m also quite into the dress/pants combination, so here’s one for the early spring office days.

The darker the days got, the lazier I got with dressing up! I wore this outfit maybe every other day in December, because let’s face it, as much as I try to enjoy the winter, I’m trying to make the bare minimum amount of decisions during the days to save some energy. And with a huge winter coat it doesn’t really matter what you wear underneath, right?

Inspiration for the new week; Daria Werbowy in long knit dress. The picture is from a Phoebe Philo’s personal visual vocabulary for Céline via @rarebooksparis. The book was unfortunately sold immediately, it would have been a real treasure.

I have a similar black knit dress and I can’t wait for colder days to be able to wear it.

Céline’s latest look book doesn’t feel like a farewell, even though it is the final collection from Phoebe Philo. All the looks are fresh and slightly odd, like a proper new start instead of an end. Although I can’t imagine a better closure for Philo’s tenure; no huge show with fanfares or media circus highlighting and praising the designer, just gorgeous pieces of clothing and no Phoebe in sight.

Céline’s Resort 2017 is still one of my favorite collections from Phoebe Philo. As life has been keeping me busy lately and my mind is full of (exciting) things, I looked back to the collection look book, which always gives me inspiration during moments like this.
