I have a love-hate relationship with Louvre. It’s annoyingly crowded every day, full of turists who enter just because it’s a ‘must’. But then, headphones on, I really get fascinated everytime I go there by its size and treasures. I’ve visited so far 7 times and not even close to finish. Last time I discovered this gorgeus marble floor from one of the hallways.

Musée Zadkine is a hidden gem in the left bank of Paris. Sometimes the space is completely empty and together with the artwork it’s a perfect calming escape from tourist-filled Paris. Plus the enterance is free. 100bis rue d’Assas, 75006 Paris

Since I received couple emails regarding my recommendations for a short trip to Paris (how exciting!) , I decided to create a small guide of all my favourites which will be ready soon. Meanwhile, if I had only one evening, I would spend it at Pompidou’s modern art collection at the 5th floor, which also gives you a great view over Paris.

Modern architecture is not the first thing that comes in mind when thinking about Paris and it’s Haussmann buildings. However, there are couple of gems worth visiting.
Maison Louis Carré, designed by Finnish Alvar Aalto is located 45 minutes outside of Paris and open for visitors every weekend. French art dealer Louis Carré was first considering Le Corbusier to design his new home but was not so convinced by his “colder” style such as use of beton.
Maison La Roche, designed by Le Corbusier and Pierre Jeanneret is located in the 16th arrondissement of Paris. It was designed for a Swiss banker and art collector Raoul La Roche.

PARIS TIPS – Here’s my current favourites Paris spots and must sees. Paris is just overwhelmingly beatiful during the spring bloom.
Balenciaga, l’oeuvre au noir, Musée Bourdelle – One of the best exhibitions I’ve visited for a while. Perfectly curated, Balenciaga archives mixed with the permanent collection of sculptures.
Jardin des Plantes, Galerie de Minéralogie et de Géologie – Leaves you speachless, how fascinating the nature can be.
Bois de Vincennes – I used to run here all the time so now I’m very lucky to live just 5 minutes away. Piece of nature in Paris and sometimes no people in sight.
Nous et Les Autres, Musée de l’Homme – On my list for this week. Described as an exploration of the origins of prejudice and racism. Sadly, very relevant exhibition.

Atelier Brancusi in Paris sets the mood for my season; white, gold, terracotta, shades of beige and brown, minimal and sharp shapes, mix of textures.

PARIS TIPS – I wanted to share what is currently on my visit – list and couple of all time favourites:
–Icons of modern art. The Shchukin Collection – Fondation Louis Vuitton. Even though I don’t mind standing outside on the line while admiring the beautiful building, this time I will buy the tickets online.
–Herb Ritts – Maison Européenne de la Photographie. Actually went to see this already, beautiful photographs but unfortunately badly curated.
–René Magritte, La trahison des images – Centre Pompidou. I highly recommend to visit during late opening hours, with a good luck you end up being the only person.
–Soulèvements – Jeu de Paume. One of my favourite museums in Paris.
–Paris Photo – Grand Palais 10-13.11.
-Musée Rodin. One of the best places in Paris to escape Paris. And look at the photo above, that’s were they keep all the light.
